Temporary Judge Program Requirements

The following requirements must be met to receive certification from the San Joaquin County Superior Court to serve as a Temporary Judge:

  • You must be an attorney in good standing with the State Bar of California, with no disciplinary action pending, no felony convictions, and must have been admitted to practice at least 10 years prior to appointment. For good cause, the Presiding Judge may permit an attorney admitted to practice for at least 5 years to qualify.
  • Complete and submit the Temporary Judge Program application , opens PDF document . The application is fillable using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
  • Complete the required training hours listed below.
